NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) — Rutgers University's Board of Governors is holding a closed-door meeting amid the latest scandal to hit the sports program the university has been trying to build up.
University officials have not said what Friday's meeting is about other than "athletics matters and anticipated or pending litigation."
Coach Kyle Flood has kicked six players off the team after their arrests on charges that include armed robbery and home-invasion burglary. One of the former-players was also charged in two home-invasion robberies.
The school also is probing whether Flood improperly contacted a teacher about one of the player's grades before Flood removed him after his arrest.
In 2013, the men's basketball coach was fired and the athletic director resigned after a video was made public showing the coach kicking and hitting players.
