According to Athens-Clarke County Police, Smith's 2018 BMW X5 was broken into on May 5, while the car was at his apartment complex, The Mark Athens apartments.
Police were called to the apartments at 257 Oconee Street around 11:45 that Saturday morning.
Police say the following items were taken from the car:
UGA 2017 National Championship jersey
UGA 2017 Rose Bowl Jersey
UGA 2017 Season Football Jersey
UGA 2017 Season Football Helmet
Headphones
Watches
Bluetooth speaker
Sunglasses
Nike shoes
iPad (belonging to the Chicago Bears)
A woman, who says she is Smith's Aunt, posted a message on Twitter about the incident.
"Dawg Nation my nephew Roquan Smith has worked sooo hard to play in his UGA jersey and helmet and to one day take it off and hang it on his wall. However, over the past few hours, someone took that away from him by wrongfully taking these items from his property in Athens. My prayer is that the person who committed the crime will deal with their issues and that anyone who knows of information related to this crime will report it immediately to the Athens Police Dept. There were a lot of items taken but none more dear to his heart than his UGA jerseys and helmet. Thanks for your support and for spreading this unpleasant news with hopes of finding the person who did this."
Athens-Clarke County Police tell FOX 5, they recovered the items after getting a hit off of fingerprints on Tuesday. Police issued a search warrant and found some of the items at the suspects home in Athens.
The suspect ended up admitting to police that they took Smith's jersey to a relative's house in Summerville.
The only items police were not able to find was Smith's iPad.
Police do not know if Smith's car was damaged during the break-in or if it was unlocked at the time.
The suspect is not yet in custody, but police say they will issue a warrant.
In April, the Chicago Bears selected Smith No. 8 overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. He was the first Georgia Bulldog taken in this year's draft.
