A Valley woman says she's living a nightmare, as she claims that scorpions are crawling around her home.

By scorpions, it's not just one or two. She says the critters are everywhere, and Kayla Balodis has the video to prove it.

"Oh my god! This is so gross!" Balodis said, in the video. "I'm, like, never gonna sleep again. I don't know what to do."

Balodis said she originally moved into the Mesa apartment in September, and said when she first moved in, she found about five scorpions, which she thought was alarming then.

"Their response was, 'well, the apartment has been vacant. I don't know how long,'" said Balodis.

The small problem then subsided before turning into a much bigger problem.

"We found, maybe like, at least 40 a couple nights ago," said Balodis. "Last night, I think we counted 23, and that's just within, like, 30 minutes or so. So, it seems to me like -- it has to be a problem. Like, that's not normal. It is Arizona. Everybody's telling me it's Arizona, you're gonna find them. Yeah I know. One or two occasionally, that's fine, but when they're in my house, around my one-year-old, I don't know. That's just kind of concerning."

Balodis said she has talked with the apartment's management, and even though she says they've told her they're fixing the problem, she claims it's not enough.

"I don't really think they're taking enough action for how many scorpions are there," said Balodis. "I think they need to be doing more to try and at least get rid of some of them. I understand we can't get rid of all of them, but I think the number that we're finding is pretty excessive."

To break the lease, Balodis would have to pay about $2,000. It's money Balodis said she does not have. She does, however, want out.

"I'm either stuck, or they let me out before it gets worse," said Balodis. "I don't want my son to get stung. I just want to get out."

FOX 10 Phoenix has reached out to the apartment, but officials with the apartment have not returned our calls.
