In honor of former first lady Barbara Bush, people from all over the nation visited the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum Wednesday afternoon.
Mrs. Bush died Tuesday night in her Houston home at the age of 92.
The George Bush Library displayed an exhibit that showed photos of Barbara Bush throughout her lifetime. People could also write down their condolences in a book and left flowers on a makeshift memorial outside of the building. A&M ROTC members stopped by to learn more about her service.
“We are here to pair respect to the former first lady as well as gaining appreciation for President Bush's military service as well as states craft," said Ian Cunningham an A&M cadet.
Director of GBPL Warren Finch said Mrs. Bush visited the library quite often to read to children. The staff recalled fond memories of her visits. “She would kind of catch you off-guard every once in a while you wouldn't be able to tell she was telling a joke or not until you looked over at her and she cracked a smile and her eyes kind of twinkled,” said Finch,
The library has more than 100 scrapbooks Mrs. Bush collected from her upbringing in New York City to her meeting the love of her life George Bush the two had six children. In most of bush's pictures she can be seen surrounded by family.
