TAMPA (FOX 13) - A Bay Area humane society is crediting a microchip that helped reunite an owner with his dog, two years later.
The Humane Society of Tampa Bay shared video onto its Facebook page of the reunion. Two years ago, Maxy was stolen from the owner’s vehicle at a truck stop in Texas.
The organization said he lost his wife, and was “beyond devastated to lose Maxy as well and has been searching for his faithful companion ever since.” The humane society said Maxy was brought to them, and was, luckily, microchipped.
They called the owner who was shocked to find out Maxy was in another state. He drove from his home in Texas to Tampa Bay, and was reunited with Maxy.
The Humane Society of Tampa Bay suggests getting your pet chipped as soon as possible. Their Animal Hospital is open from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day at 3809 North Armenia Avenue in Tampa.
