GORDON COUNTY, Ga. - The body of 64-year-old George Paul Treadway was recovered in floodwaters along Reeves Station Road just west of Calhoun in western Gordon County on Monday.
Officials with the Gordon County Sheriff's Office say the Summerville resident drove to Calhoun to visit a friend the morning of Dec. 26. The man's relatives grew concerned when they were unable to reach him that afternoon.
The Gordon County Sheriff's Office , Gordon County Fire/Rescue, Georgia State Patrol and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources launched a search in the vicinity of Reeves Station Road after learning the man would have traveled that route on Saturday. The GSP Dive Team spotted a submerged car in the water late Sunday.
Early Monday a recovery team recovered Treadway's body which was found inside the vehicle.
Gordon County Sheriff's officials also confirmed the recovery of a second body at a lake in the Sonoraville Community near the Bartow County line on Monday morning. The victim has been identified as 38 year old Robert John Murray, who went missing while kayaking.
Floyd County Flooding
Just south of Gordon County, flood waters continue to persist. Drone video shot by GyroGerald on the day after Christmas shows the extent of the flooding there.

There was also major flooding seen at the area where the Oostanaula and the Etowah merge together to form the Coosa River.
