NEW YORK (FOX5NY.COM) - Belgian beer brand Stella Artois is voluntarily recalling certain glass bottles in the United States and Canada because of the possibility that small particles of glass could have ended up in the brew.
The recall affects 11.2-ounce (330ml) bottles that came in certain Stella Artois 6-packs, 12-packs, 18-packs, 24-packs, and Best of Belgium multi-packs in the United States and Canada, as well as Stella Artois Légère 6-packs and 12-packs in the United States.
The brand said the recall is limited to bottles from one only vendor's facility, which makes "a fraction of Stella Artois bottles," after the "detection of a glass packaging flaw in some 11.2-ounce (330ml) bottles that may cause a small piece of glass to break off and possibly fall into the beer."
"While the number of potentially-affected glass bottles is very small, we are recalling these Stella Artois packages as a precautionary measure," Stella Artois official Christina Choi said in a statement. "Our team of technical experts has been working with our third-party glass bottle supplier to ensure this packaging flaw has been addressed."
