A man who was shot and killed inside a Montgomery County home has been identified as the homeowner's brother. The man who lives at the home on Singletree Drive near Indian Springs Trail is a Stagecoach police officer. Detectives arrested Robert Lee for murder in connection with the shooting death of his brother.

The officer said that he had returned home on Friday before 5:20 p.m. and saw a white man in his 50s stealing items from the home. He had shot the alleged burglar several times.

The homeowner, who has more than 35 years of experience in law enforcement, then contacted the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office to report the incident. When deputies arrived, they found the body of the man, who was later identified as both the homeowner's brother and a Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputy, inside the bathroom of the home.

Investigators have not determined if the deputy was also armed. MCSO Lieutenant Scott Spencer says the investigation is no longer being treated as a burglary incident, but rather a domestic one. The names of the two brothers were initially withheld, but HCSO later identified the shooting victim as 26-year veteran Deputy Rocky Lee. He was 57 years old.

FOX 26 News learned that the police officer was being treated for a medical condition that is unrelated to the shooting, but is cooperating with authorities.

The Texas Rangers, MCSO and Montgomery County District Attorney's Office will conduct investigations into the shooting. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez has asked for prayers for the family of both men.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office posted the following information on its Twitter account on Friday night:

Please pray for the family of an off-duty HCSO Deputy, who was killed tonight in a shooting in the 16000 block of Singletree in Stagegoach, Montgomery County. @SheriffEd_HCSO is en route. #hounews
