NEW YORK (FOX 5 NEWS) - The Wildlife Conservation Society has released new photos and video of baby western lowland gorillas born at the Bronx Zoo in 2014 and 2015 showing their progress and growth.
The zoo's Congo Gorilla Forest exhibit is home to five gorilla toddlers all under 2-1/2.
"Their playful interactions with their parents and one another give zoo visitors an opportunity to observe the family dynamics and see how their personalities have developed," the WCs said in a news release.
Layla, Kumi, and Suki gave birth to Kamara, Mokonzi and Kidogo Njemba in 2015. Julia and Tuti gave birth to Mjukuu and Lincoln in 2014, the WCS said. An adult male silverback named Ernie sired them all.
The Wildlife Conservation Society's mission is to save "wildlife and wild places worldwide through science, conservation action, education, and inspiring people to value nature," according to its website. In addition to the Bronx Zoo, its flagship property, WCS runs the Prospect Park Zoo, the New York Aquarium, the Queens Zoo, and the Central Park Zoo.
