Is Paleo Diet to blame for Jeb Bush's "low energy?"
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Political strategist Mike Berland is well versed on at least two subjects: politics and dieting.
Berland worked on the campaigns of Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton and Mike Bloomberg.
He also took it upon himself to develop a diet plan that resulted in a 70 lb. weight loss.
His wealth of experience and knowledge in both arenas has lead to an interesting take on low-polling Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush, who has been blasted by front-runner Donald Trump for having "low energy."
Bush appears to have lost a considerable amount of weight from the start of the campaign season.
According to Berland, that "low energy" could be due to what Bush is eating.
"Jeb Bush was on the Paleo Diet (mainly meat, fish, vegetables, fruit; no dairy, grain products and processed foods.). By the end of the day you run out of energy. You do something called 'bonk.' As he has lost the weight, it has- no pun intended- fueled his problem," said Berland.
On the opposite end of the energy spectrum is Trump. Berland says his diet habits could be responsible.
"If I were to advise Mr. Trump, I would suggest sometimes your cortisol needs to be toned down to look more presidential," said Berland.
A smarter weigh to eat and stay in shape, according to Berland, is to follow his Miracle Intervals plan.
"If you jog, jog faster. If you walk, walk faster, but do it in intervals. Do 45 seconds faster and 3.5 minutes slower. People over exercise. “If you get into a sweat storm and you’re really exhausted you’re actually not going to lose weight, you’re going to be overtired and over eat," said Berland.
