Ex-TCU QB Trevone Boykin arrested for alleged assault of girlfriend

Mansfield police arrested former TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin on Wednesday in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident involving his girlfriend.

Police said Boykin was arrested for an alleged assault on girlfriend Shabrika Bailey for an incident that happened on March 21 at Boykin's home in Mansfield. Police say she had serious injuries to her jaw.

After obtaining search warrants, police found camera footage from inside the home that appeared to have captured the alleged assault.

“Once they were able to verify on the video that an assault did occur, that's when the they went ahead and obtained an arrest warrant for Mr. Boykin,” explained Mansfield Police Sgt. William Yale.

Boykin was arrested on Wednesday at his home without incident. He's charged with aggravated assault with serious bodily injury and was booked into the Mansfield jail.

The day before his arrest, Boykin was at the Mansfield Police Department for an interview with police Tuesday afternoon about last week's alleged assault. He spoke briefly while leaving and maintained his innocence.

“I think I'll be fine,” he said on Tuesday. “The truth will come out. The truth will come out.”

Boykin told an NFL reporter that his accuser, Bailey, is lying and that her story is fabricated. He told FOX 4 the investigation will clear his name.

But a source told FOX4 on Wednesday that the evidence collected from the scene didn't match the story he told police.

The Seahawks announced Tuesday they had released Boykin after the allegations became public. He had been a member of the team since 2016 when he was brought in as an undrafted free agent.

The former TCU quarterback has had multiple run-ins with the law in the past few years.

Boykin was arrested for public intoxication and marijuana possession after a car crash in Uptown Dallas in March 2017. He was a passenger in the vehicle that was being driven by Bailey. She was charged with two counts of intoxication assault with serious bodily injury.

Boykin was also arrested in Dec. 2015 for hitting an officer during a bar fight two days before the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio.

Boykin will stay at the Mansfield Jail until he’s transferred to the Tarrant County Jail, where he’ll be arraigned and a bond will be set.
