Dole bagged spinach recall

Dole Fresh Vegetables is voluntarily recalling a limited number of cases of bagged salad.

California-based Dole Fresh Vegetables is voluntarily recalling some cases of bagged spinach because a random sample test turned up Salmonella, according to the FDA. The recall only affects 8-ounce bags of Dole Spinach salad with a Friday, October 15, "Enjoy By" date and the UPCs A27409B and A27409A.

The salads were distributed in Connecticut, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.

The recall does not affect baby spinach and other salads, the company said.

If you have any of the recalled bagged spinach you should throw it away.

You can call the Dole Food Company Consumer Response Center at (800) 356-3111 with questions.

The Salmonella bacteria can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal cramps. Most healthy adults rarely get seriously sick, but elderly, frail, and young people can be sick for a few days.
