Deputies: Hall County man under house arrest kills father
HALL COUNTY, Ga. - A Gainesville man is accused of killing his father while on house arrest, according to deputies.
Deputies were called out to a home on 3400 block of Looper Lake Road. That is where 22-year-old Daniel Wallis Burchardt should have been as he was under house arrested on aggravated assault, burglary, and drug charges.
Instead, deputies said they found his ankle monitor and his father, Tony Burchardt, dead from apparent blunt force trauma. The elder Burchardt’s car was also missing.
Daniel Burchardt was later arrested by the White County Sheriff's Office. He was booked into the Hall County Jail on charges that include murder and felony escape. He was denied bond.
Investigators said they were tipped off to the murder after Burchardt’s ankle monitor alerted authorities that there had been tampering.
