AUSTIN, Texas— Dell Incorporated is making a multi-billion dollar move that could create a technological powerhouse.
Wednesday, the Round Rock-based company announced it will acquire data storage company EMC.
Dell is a name that resonates in the Austin area. With the decision to acquire another major company, the move will echo in the world of technology.
“We believe that a Dell-EMC combination offers unique value which is good for dell, good for EMC and very good for each of you,” Michael Dell, Founder and C.E.O, said.
Dell made the announcement in front of an eager crowd at their annual Dell World conference. He talked about how the merge could open doors for tech advancement and entrepreneurship.
“EMC, $67 billion, being master of your own destiny, priceless,” he said.
EMC is a company that deals with data storage, cloud computing, and information security, just to name a few. Dell says together, the two can do amazing things.
“Combining the two iconic brands of Dell and EMC is really centered around our customers and providing our customers with an end to end set of solutions,” Bryan Jones, V.P. of Commercial Marketing, said.
Dell says the two coming together can address critical needs, from small businesses to the big guys.
“The key thing that brings to the party for us is the ability to continue our solutions focus,” Jones said.
With a technological company, making a power move in a tech driven city, Austin will continue to be on the map, and thrive.
“I am all in, and completely committed to the success of our new company,” Dell said.
