49ers Marquise Goodwin lost his son before Sunday's game, due to pregnancy complications
OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - Marquise Goodwin caught an 83-yard touchdown pass in Sunday’s 31-21 win over the Giants. It’s the biggest play of the 49ers season and helped the team land their first win. Goodwin did it with a heavy heart.
He blew a kiss to the sky as he crossed the goal line and then dropped to his knees in the end zone. At the time, no one knew the tragic pain he and his wife, Morgan, endured during the early hours of Sunday morning.
The two lost their baby boy around 4 a.m. after complications forced a premature birth.
"Unfortunately, we lost our baby boy due to some complications, and had to prematurely deliver him early this morning around 4am," Goodwin wrote in an Instagram post. "The pain (physically, mentally, & emotionally) that she (Morgan) has endured is unbelievable. Please Pray for the Goodwin family.”
Goodwin reportedly quickly left the locker room and stadium after the game, according to CSN Bay Area. The 49ers have a bye week this week.
