2 killed in hit-and-run in North Bergen

The Hudson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a double fatal hit-and-run in North Bergen Sunday night.

The driver struck two people at the intersection of Kennedy Boulevard and Paterson Plank Road before fleeing the scene, reported NJ.com.

The driver may have struck another vehicle on Kennedy Blvd.

An arrest was made early Monday morning.

The victims identified by NJ.com as Russell Maffei and Marie Tauro were leaving the Coach House Diner when they were struck.  Both were rushed to to the Jersey City Medical Center.

Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno posted on social media that one of the people killed was Republican State Committeeman Russell Maffei, who was also the chair of the Jersey City Republican party.
