Politically-correct wording at Princeton
PRINCETON (MY9NJ) - Princeton University has asked its teachers and staff to use more inclusive language, according to directives issued by its Human Resources department.
Pronouns like "he" and "she" are discouraged in favor of "them" for instance. "Man-hours" becomes "people-hours" and "freshman" "frosh."
It's important to note that this is not new; Princeton says the guidelines were issued about two years ago.
The university's statement went on to say that "no words have been banned at Princeton," and cites a "high value on free expression."
