Man found dead after locked in bathroom for 5 days
The Iuso family had a wake on Thursday for their beloved Anthony, who was found dead in a locked bathroom at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx, where he worked.
Anthony's body was found Tuesday, five days after he went missing after he went to the hospital's emergency room for treatment of a finger injury.
It's a mystery as to how he got locked in the bathroom in the first place and how he died.
A police investigation is now underway.
The family filled out a missing person’s report, which is how the police got involved. They knew Anthony was in the bathroom after watching a surveillance video.
"He was in that room for five days even after we called them and told them he was missing," Anthony's brother Nino said, "They said he didn't report for work. They never looked for him at the emergency room. He was an employee. They knew each other there. They could have contacted him. They never even checked. He was on the clock. Somebody should have said something that day.”
Chasing News spoke to his parents and got an exclusive interview with his daughter Jessica Smith.
"It's just unsettling, disgraceful, there are just no words to describe it," Smith said, "Unbelievable. It's a numbing feeling, really hard to believe. It's not right what happened to him."
The hospital released a statement saying, “The staff at Montefiore Hospital is extremely saddened to learn that one of our employees has passed away. This is currently an ongoing investigation within Montefiore and by the NYPD.”
