Bocce ball in Newark
Some of the best bocce players you're likely to meet get together at the north end of Branch Brook Park in Newark. They take no prisoners and never miss a day.
"They're here 365 days a year," says Phil Alagia, chief of staff to Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr. and a devout player himself. "When it's 20 degrees out they come. They're not as good because they play with gloves."
They showed off a trophy that they won for winning the Anthony Fasano Tournament. Fasano is a football player for the Baltimore Ravens and an avid bocce player. Alagia says the team had to show Morris County who's boss.
Alagia adds that his late father brought him to the courts when he was a kid, "I come here, the Italian guys ... I feel his spirit here more than going to the cemetery."
Hank had been set up to play Alagia's team, and play them he did. The result was predictable humilation for Hank.
